The first Mercadito Fest is finally here! Join us tonight from 5 – 9 PM at Yoyo’s Botaneria. This night market is the first of its kind in the Eden Area. Don’t miss out on music, cumbia lessons and food from local Eden Area vendors.

Even if you’ve never heard of junk fees — you may already be paying them. We’re trying to put a stop to them.

Landlords in the Eden Area are imposing predatory junk fees on tenants without any rules or regulations. Additional garbage, water and parking fees are costing Eden tenants up to $700 per month on top of their already pricy rents— pricing them out of their homes.

This month we are launching a campaign to ban these junk fees. This summer we will educate our public officials and ask them to begin working on an ordinance to ban these fees. You can expect to receive emails from us with more steps on how to get involved.

We’ve done this before. In 2025 we won Just Cause eviction protections for most renters in the Eden Area. We educated our public officials on the unjust evictions our neighbors face, we advocated for a Just Cause Ordinance, and won the years-long battle!

And now, we can do it again! Join the fight for an ordinance to Ban Junk Fees and help put an end to these predatory and exploitative fees.

The Timeline:

  • Tuesday June 9th, 6pm, Eden MAC, San Lorenzo Library
  • Monday June 15th, 6pm, CV MAC, Castro Valley Library
  • Wednesday June 24th, 6pm, Unincorporated Services Committee, San Lorenzo Library
